How to Compete

NEW THIS YEAR:
Two Chances to Qualify for the Crown!

All performances are karaoke-style (vocals only – no live instrumental accompaniment). 

Round 1 Selection

  • Audition: April & May at The Heorot (Thursdays) or Common Market (Saturdays).

  • 20 Qualifiers Perform: Brink of Summer ArtsWalk (June 5)

  • 10 Finalists move on to Finale

Round 2 Selection

  • Audition: June & July at The Heorot (Thursdays) or Common Market (Saturdays).

  • 20 Qualifiers Perform: Fire Up DWNTWN (August 2)

  • 10 Finalists move on to Finale

Finale

  • 20 Finalists Perform: ArtsWalk (October 2)

  • Winner is chosen!

How to Audition

  • Perform at an open mic/karaoke night! 

  • Heorot (Thursdays, 8 pm–12 am, Ages 21+)
    April 3 – May 15 (for Round 1)
    June 5 – July 17 (for Round 2) 

  • Common Market (Saturdays, 6–10 pm, All Ages)
    April 5 – May 17 (for Round 1)
    June 7 – July 19 (for Round 2) 

  • Record your performance (bring a friend to record your performance, and a phone/laptop for music; we’ll provide an AUX cord). 

  • Submit your video (upload to YouTube, Vimeo, etc. first) with your name, performer name, phone number, and email the day after your performance. 

Public Voting & Finalist Selection

  • Audition videos will be posted online for a week (Round 1: May 18–24, Round 2: July 19–26) for fans to vote for their favorites. 

  • Finalists will be chosen based on public votes + judges' feedback.
